Climate protection demands greener, more efficient mobility. Public transport must become more attractive. Railways, busses, trams and even the long underestimated transport method, the bicycle, offer important solutions to combine the individual transport needs with the urgency of climate protection. The Climate and Energy Fund supports public transport services with the implementation of a customer orientated and (also economically) sustainable form of public transport. Through the application of intelligent technologies, the running and usage of public transport should become cheaper and more attractive in the future. At the same time the Climate and Energy Fund supports green mobility initiatives that tackle the problems of going the „last mile“. The interface between the last stop and getting home becomes apparent, above all in the countryside, as an access hurdle for using public transport services. Equally telematic transport solutions will be pushed for, that know how to „manage“ traffic through the use of new forms of information and communication technology.
